DAF CF trucks

The DAF CF (Compact Forte) heavy-duty trucks have been manufactured since 2001. Their maximum allowable weight is 18–44 tons. They are assembled in Leyland, Great Britain. The model replaced the 65/75 trucks.

Generation I (2001–2013)

The axle configurations of the cars produced in 2001 were the following: 4 × 2, 6 × 2, 6 × 4, 8 × 2 and 8 × 4. The wheelbase varied in the range of 3,250–7,300 mm.

There were three types of cabins available: Day, Sleeper and Space. The latter two were equipped with bunks and were spacious enough to accommodate a fridge, a microwave oven, a TV set. The cabin had numerous compartments for storing things: lockable drawers, under-bed storage and niches above the windscreen.

On the market, there were offered DAF CF tractor units, dump trucks, tank trucks, garbage trucks, fire-fighting vehicles and truck mixers. The trucks were equipped with diesel Paccar GR power units. Since 2006, the engines conform to the Euro 4 standards. The manufacturer used the Common Rail system and the SCR technology.

Generation II (2013–present)

The new vehicles were equipped with hi-tech Paccar engines that conform to the Euro 6 emission standard. They were fitted with the Common Rail fuel injection system and a variable geometry turbocharger. In order to ensure compliance with the environmental standards, the EGR and SCR technologies of exhaust gas purification, as well as the diesel particulate filter, were used.

Generation III (2017–present)

In 2017 the model of the third generation debuted, and a year later it was given the prestigious European International Truck of the Year award. The DAF CF truck is characterised by excellent manoeuvrability, high payload and robust design. Besides, a wide range of body styles is available. In particular, it is possible to buy a crane, tank truck or concrete mixer truck. The axle configurations can be the following: 4 × 2, 6 × 2, 6 × 4, 8 × 2, 8 × 4. The vehicles are equipped with a lightweight suspension made of high-quality steel, and have a perforated frame.

The exterior of these vehicles has a lot of aluminium elements. As before, the trucks are fitted with three kinds of cabins:

• Day Cab. The height is 1,600, the width is 2,260, and the length is 1,770 mm.
• Sleeper Cab (with one bunk). With the same height and width, their length is 2,200 mm.
• Space Cab (with two bunks). The height is 2,230, the width is 2,260, the length is 2,200 mm.

Inside these commercial vehicles, there is a great number of chrome-plated trim elements. There is also a climate control. The driver’s seat has a lumbar support and anatomically shaped backrest, and can be adjusted to different positions.

The fuel efficiency of the model has increased by 7% due to the use of environmentally-friendly Paccar MX engines and a specially developed EAS technology for exhaust gas aftertreatment. A wide range of driver-assistance systems includes cruise control with GPS and the EcoRoll function. In particular, this cruise control allows calculating an optimal driving speed for a certain road section.
