DAF XF trucks

The DAF XF are heavy-duty tractor units with the maximum allowable weight of 18–44 tons. The vehicles have been rolling off the production line in the Netherlands since 2013. In 2018 the model won the International Truck of the Year award. The jury of journalists from 23 countries noted excellent steerability, the high level of safety and environmental friendliness. The preceding model is the XF105.

Generation I (2013 - present)

The trucks were introduced at the International Motor Show in Hannover in 2012. The new vehicles have got redesigned radiator grilles for better performance of the engine cooling system, as well as an updated suspension.

In the centre of the instrument panel of this commercial vehicle, there is an information display of the Driver Performance Assistant system. It shows the data about the truck operation, in particular, the fuel consumption.

The vehicles are equipped with the Paccar MX environmentally friendly engines fitted with a turbocharger and intercooler. The power units conform to the Euro 6 emission standard due to the Common Rail injection system, the exhaust gas recirculation technology (SCR), catalytic converter DeNOx, and diesel particulate filter. The vehicles are fitted with the electronic stability control (ESC), adaptive cruise control, and advanced emergency braking function (AEB).

Generation II (2017 - present)

In spring 2017, the manufacturer presented a new DAF XF tractor unit. The available axle configurations are: 4 × 2, 6 × 2, 6 × 4, 8 × 2, 8 × 4. The vehicles are equipped with two types of cabins:

• Space Cab (with a 600 mm wide bunk). The height is 1,885, the width is 2,490, the length is 2,250 mm.
• Super Space Cab (with one or two bunks with the width of up to 700 mm). The height is 2,255, the width is 2,490, the length is 2,250 mm.

These vehicles are the best option for long-distance travels. The cabin is fitted with wardrobes and space for underbed storage, as well as special slots for bank cards, retractable cup holders and other accessories. The dashboard has a small retractable table. The climate control system maintains a comfortable temperature in the cabin throughout the whole journey.

The Paccar MX engines are equipped with a turbocharger and the Eco Mode system which allows increasing the fuel efficiency. Besides, the manufacturer managed to reduce the fuel consumption by 7% due to the updated fuel supply mechanism, retrofitted valves, and the improved EGR technology. The power units conform to the Euro 6 standard. They are characterised by reliability and wear-resistance, which makes the maintenance of the truck really inexpensive.
