DAF XF 105 trucks

The heavy-duty DAF XF105 trucks with the maximum allowable weight from 18 to 40 tons have been manufactured since 2005. In 2013 the successor of the model, the XF, was presented, however, its production continued anyway, though in limited quantity. The vehicles roll off the production lines at the factories in Leyland and Eindhoven, the Netherlands. In 2007 the model won the prestigious International Truck of the Year award. The vehicle replaced the XF95.

DAF XF105: the background

The debut of the model took place at the Amsterdam International Motor Show in 2005. The chassis of the vehicle is made of high-quality durable steel but it weighs little, which produces a positive effect on the payload. There are two-, three- and four-axle vehicles with the axle configurations 4 × 2, 6 × 2, 6 × 4, 8 × 2 and 8 × 4.

The trucks are equipped with two types of cabins:

• Space Cab. The height is 1,885, the width is 2,490, the length is 2,250 mm.
• Super Space Cab. With the same width and length, its height is 2,255 mm. This cab is considered to be the largest one among the versions made in Europe.

Each cabin provides an opportunity to install two bunks: the area of the lower one is 2,010 × 810 mm, the upper one has the area of up to 2,000 × 700 mm. The frame of the commercial vehicles is absolutely flat and perforated, which makes it possible to easily mount different types of bodies to it. For example, there are lumber trucks and tank trucks available.

There are driver assistance systems such as adaptive cruise control, the systems of forward collision warning (FCW), vehicle stability control (VSC), hill-start assist (HSA). The manufacturer also offers various additional accessories to make using the vehicle as comfortable as possible; for example, an exterior sun visor, or a lock that prevents the doors from being opened from the outside. Side view cameras are available as an option. They facilitate manoeuvring in enclosed spaces.

The vehicles are equipped with the Paccar MX environmentally friendly diesel engines fitted with a turbocharger and intercooler. These power units meet the requirements of the Euro 4 and 5 emission standards due to the SMART injection system and the SCR technology. With a diesel particulate filter installed, the engines conform to the requirements of the EEV (Enhanced Environmentally friendly Vehicles) standard.
