MAN TGA trucks

The MAN TGA are heavy-duty commercial vehicles with a gross vehicle weight of 18–50 tons. The assembly was carried out from 2000 to 2007 in Germany, Poland, Uzbekistan. The vehicle is mainly used for international freight. In 2001, the truck was awarded the prestigious International Truck of the Year prize by authoritative journalists from 23 countries. Its predecessor is the F2000 model.

MAN TGA: the background

The model was launched in 2000 and was available in two, three and four-axle versions with the following axle configurations: 4 × 2, 6 × 4, 6 × 6, 6 × 2/2, 6 × 2/4, 8 × 4, 8 × 6, 8 × 8. The wheelbases varied in the range between 2,505 and 5,100 mm.

The vehicles were equipped with cabs of six types: M, L, XL, LX, XLX, XXL. All of them had the same width – 2,240 mm. The height of the smaller M and L was 1,645 mm, their lengths were 1,880 and 2,260 mm respectively. The length of the rest of cabs was 2,280 mm, the XL was 1,660 mm high, the LX and XLX - 1,975 mm, and the XXL had the height of 2,200 mm. The latter three provided an opportunity to install two sleeping berths with the width of up to 790 mm.

The interior was designed considering high comfort requirements. The driver’s seat was ventilated and featured a heating function. Inside the cab, there was a great number of compartments for storage and a space for a fridge.

MAN TGA trucks were available as tipper lorries, garbage trucks, fire engines, tankers, concrete mixers and some others. The military vehicles SX and HX, as well as special vehicles for public utilities LE (Low Entry) with a low cab, also rolled off the production line. Besides, the manufacturer offered the WLF version with a swap body system.

The vehicles were fitted with a primary retarder called PriTarder. Besides, the manufacturer offered adaptive cruise control, electronic stability programme and lane departure warning system. In 2004, they started to equip engines with the Common Rail direct fuel injection system and the EGR exhaust gas treatment with the proprietary PM-Kat diesel particulate filter. The engines conformed to Euro 4 emissions standard and the ones fitted with the SCR exhaust gas treatment system complied with the Euro 5.
