MAN TGS trucks

The MAN TGS heavy-duty trucks have been manufactured since 2007 in Europe, Asia, Africa and South America. The maximum allowable weight of the vehicles varies from 18 to 44 tons. These commercial vehicles are used not only for transporting goods for short and long distances, but also by public utilities in their works, at construction sites and as special vehicles. MAN TGS: the background

The vehicles are manufactured with different axle configurations: 4 × 2, 6 × 2, 6 × 2/2, 6 × 4, 6 × 6, 8 × 4. The manufacturer managed to decrease the curb weight of the vehicles to the maximum possible extent due to light materials of the frame while preserving the durability of the latter. Its upper part is absolutely flat and the rails of the frame are perforated, which allows installing various bodies quickly and easily. There are three kinds of cabins mounted to the vehicle:

• M. The length is 1,880, the width is 2,240, and the height is 1,645 mm. These vehicles are intended for travelling to short distances, to be used in construction and by utility services.
• L. They are fitted with a comfortable bunk and numerous compartments for storing things. The vehicles are suitable for international freight. The length is 2,280, the width is 2,240, the height is 1,645 mm.
• LX. The driver can stretch out inside to his full height. The cabins are fitted with one or two bunks with a rail frame and a mattress made of foam material. The length is 2,280, the width is 2,240, the height is 1,925 mm.

There is a great number of storage boxes for personal belongings, cup holders and other useful accessories. On the dashboard, there is an LCD screen which shows the readings from the main systems.

In the beginning, the MAN TGS were fitted with the D20 and D26 diesel power units with the Common Rail injection system. All these engines met the requirements of the Euro 4 and 5 standards. In 2014 the manufacturer updated the range of engines to make them conform to the Euro 6 standard. In order to reduce the emission toxicity, they started to use the selective catalytic reduction (SCR) technology.

The model is fitted with the EfficientCruise adaptive cruise control with navigation. It allows choosing the optimal driving speed, in particular, before driving uphill or downhill. Besides, the trucks are equipped with driver assistance systems: active anti-roll system (Continuous Damping Control, CDC), lane guard system (LGS Lane Assistant) and also with the PriTarder primary and secondary retarders, and others.
