The Mercedes-Benz Actros belong to heavy-duty vehicles: their gross weight varies from 18 to 41 tons. They are manufactured since 1996. They are produced in Germany, Turkey and Brazil. All engines used in first vehicles of the MP2 generation conformed to the Euro 3 standard. From 2004, the manufacturer started using the BlueTec power units conforming to the Euro 4 and 5 standards. They were equipped with an electronic fuel injection control system Unit-Pump (UPS). Exhaust gases were subjected to selective catalytic reduction treatment. Besides, the amount of particulate matter discharged into the atmosphere was reduced.

Such systems as Lane Assistant and Emergency Brake Assist were used to increase the safety level. The first one warned the driver if the Mercedes-Benz Actros lorry was leaving the chosen lane. In case the vehicle was approaching an obstacle, the second one produced a sound signal and then initiated braking if this was necessary.

The generation was presented by a tipper lorry, aerial working platform, water tenders, tractor units and other body styles. LED brand emblem and radiator grille with curved lines were available as optional exterior features. The interior was completed with a mirror, a towel holder and a collapsible table.

The launch of new vehicles was marked by the implementation of a proprietary development – a 12-speed automatic transmission called PowerShift 2. Together with an updated compressed air control system, it improved fuel efficiency. Battery voltage control and a satnav were also available.
