The Mercedes-Benz Arocs heavy-duty trucks are manufactured since 2013 up to the present moment in Germany. Their gross vehicle weight varies between 18 and 41 tons (in Great Britain – up to 44 tons). Predecessors of these vehicles are the Axor and Actros trucks.

The presentation of the model took place at a trade fair in Munich in January 2013. The model features a high level of stability and is marketed as a commercial vehicle suitable for driving off-road, for example, at a construction site. These vehicles differ from traditional long-haul trucks by a larger road clearance and a durable 9 mm thick frame.

The manufacturer offers a wide range of bodies. Among them, there are dump trucks, timber lorries, snow removal vehicles, garbage trucks, mobile cranes, concrete mixer trucks and others. The following axle configurations are used: 4 × 2, 4 × 4, 6 × 2, 6 × 4, 8 × 4, 8 × 6 and 8 × 8. The wheelbase varies between 3,300 and 4,850 mm.

The cabs have galvanized elements and can be divided into 5 main types. The standard S Classic Space has the following dimensions in millimetres: the width is 2,300, the length is 1,700 and the height is 1,600. The M model can be equipped with an additional seat and can be of two types: Classic Space and Compact Space. The height of the first one is 1,600 mm, and the second one is 200 mm lower. The width of them both is the same as the S cabs and their length is 2,000 mm. The dimensions of the L version are 2,300 × 2,300 × 1,590 (length, width and height respectively). It is equipped with a 2,000 mm long and 750 mm wide sleeping berth. Besides, the manufacturer offers the L StreamSpace cab. It is 250 mm higher than the L model. There are 14 different cab variants available.

The interior of Mercedes-Benz Arocs tractor units was designed to make them more comfortable in use. For example, thanks for the adjustment mechanism, the steering wheel can be placed almost vertically which makes getting inside the vehicle easier. For remote control of some systems like heating and sound ones, there is a multifunction remote. It also allows checking the tyre pressure and lighting equipment function. Climate control and auxiliary air conditioning were available as optional extras. The latter can work up to 8 hours without starting the engine.

All available power units conform to the Euro 6 emissions standards. That became possible due to the direct fuel injection system X-Pulse, the company’s proprietary development. Its design has a booster which increases the pressure in each nozzle up to 2,000 atmospheres. The manufacturer has implemented the FleetBoard EcoSupport system which analyses the driving style and allows determining the causes of excessive fuel consumption.

The SLT truck with the maximum authorised mass up to 250 tons, is also available for sale. Apart from heavy-duty suspension and frame, it features a Turbo Retarder Clutch.
